The 7 Tribal Commitments - 12/6/2009
Recently, when I decided to formally open - along with my partners, Drs. Brett Axelrod, Dr. Rick Markson and Dr. Guy Riekeman (of council) - the first question we asked ourselves is, “Who are we and what are we all about?” Both good questions – ones that needed endless hours of dialog and discussion before the answers had the clarity that such questions require.
First, we tackled the question of what we are all about – and the following was the end result of our collective effort. It says, “The Markson Connection is about building and living a life of significance, which means more that just chiropractic practice. It is for those who desire to become creative thinkers and agents of change – who aspire to improve who they are and make a greater contribution to humanity while building a lasting and indelible legacy in their own name."
Pretty lofty, and yet in just a few months we have attracted 46 colleagues into our tribe – DC’s who have graduated from different colleges, who already enjoy multiple levels of success, have unique talents, varied personalities and belief systems that are amazing – and, yet, all share the common vision that is stated above.
Most importantly though, what seems to bind our members together and forms them into a true “tribe,” is their complete commitment and agreement to what we call the “7 Tribal Commitments.”
- To understand that awareness is the first step in the development of high performance.
- To consciously choose a future that is unencumbered by our past.
- To live beyond the circumstances of our environment.
- To use our collective resources to design a compelling vision and persist in its fulfillment.
- To remove all interferences and realize a life of significance, generosity and gratitude.
- To attract and become inspired leaders, creative thinkers and agents of change.
- To unite tribal members in a movement that enhances the consciousness of humanity.
The 7 Tribal Commitments are what forms our foundational cornerstone. They state with clarity and congruency exactly “who we really are.”
Over the coming weeks, I intend to individually describe “The 7 Tribal Commitments” in more detail. It is important to recognize and comprehend that what may only appear to be smooth and lofty words, are in fact, significant goals with built in actions steps.
The Markson Connection was not created for the mass membership and the huge numbers who have participated in my previous business ventures. It was, in fact, carefully created to attract those who want to be connected to a group, have something to add and inherently believe in the “There is no I in team approach” - in this case, those who share a common goal and are willing to pay the price of “combined effort and total commitment” – both requirements for Happiness and Success.
