Celebrating Our Differences - 3/28/2009

Two weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of working with and speaking before (along with Bill Esteb), an elite, very unique and diverse group of chiropractors.  Only 57 were invited to this tribal gathering called “Expressions.”

These DCs hailed from California to Maine, Quebec to Texas and all points in between. They came from different backgrounds, had different parents, different genetic codes and different environmental conditioning as children.  Each had different likes and dislikes, securities and insecurities, fears and faiths and had amassed long internal lists of what they considered to be the “rights and wrongs” of their worlds. They had different levels of personal confidence, different belief systems and different viewpoints of how things worked and what it is that they wanted from this life and just how much they were willing to contribute.

Additionally, they took different pathways leading to their selection of chiropractic as a career.  And, the differences continued as they selected different chiropractic colleges who sadly taught different foundational and philosophical viewpoints that created not only the rifts and reputations in our profession, but the different methods and styles of practice, as well.

Nevertheless, can you just imagine these 57 chiropractors sitting and working together hour after hour, listening, speaking, sharing, interacting, thinking and making critical distinctions about their practices, while, at the same time, shedding some of the unnecessary and unwanted emotional baggage they had been accumulating along the way?

Yes, I was witness to a tremendous transformation that created an entirely different collective consciousness (less fear, more faith; the willingness to accept personal responsibility for the past and the future; the knowledge that happiness and success are decisions, not emotions; the ability to purge themselves from their sorted past and personal stories and the desire to form a new tribe), than the one emanating from them when they first walked in.

Importantly, they shed and purged the painful and destructive emotions that had been creeping into their consciousness because they were getting sucked in by the pundits on TV, the newspapers, their own patients and anyone or anything that spewed enough doom and gloom to depress their energy field and destroy their powers to attract what they want.

Lastly, I stood in front of them, being blasted by this wave and sound of great potential as they, in total harmony, loudly and proudly went through their 100 I Am Principles Affirmations.  Ah, the sweet smell of pure potentiality.

The word “Expressions” means “the communication of thoughts and feelings.”  And that’s what this event was all about - it was an outstanding example of how we could all grow to greater glory.

Good job!
